THE BEAUTIFUL HISTORY OF THE HOTEL-RESTAURANT FOUILLADE:
1899 to today.
A long time ago, the large boats loaded with wood, called lighters sailed the Dordogne from Spontour to Bordeaux. They were led by men called "gabariers"; they stopped in towns along the river banks.
One day in summer 1899, one of these "gabariers" spotted a pretty girl from our town, married her and stayed in Argentat.
The two of them built the hotel-restaurant and worked there. Four generations followed them in this timeless establishment. Many people loved it in the past and all the visitors love it today.
